I would like to introduce our newest family member. He is an 8 week old rottweiler puppy. He is the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen. At the moment my children are calling him ‘little dude’ because my husband hasn’t decided on a name yet. ( we have only had him 1 day)
Some people may think with all we are dealing with that we are silly to be adding a puppy into the mix, however there is a big reason why we went to get this puppy.
We have had a rottweiler before called Darcy, we resuced her when she was 2 years old, she was big bundle of fun and wanted to play all the time, 3 years ago she passed away, she was the most amazing dog we have ever had. she was so gentle with the children, my husband and my son used to walk her together, my son would hold the lead and walk her when he was just 6 years old. I literally don’t have a bad word to say about her. Our whole family were devastated when we lost her. She was such a big part of our lives. Losing her affected my husband the most. The night she died was the first time I had seen him cry over an animal, she was his baby. They went everywhere together. Every morning when we would come down the stairs you could hear the ‘tap tap tapping’ of her claws on the floor and it was hard to get used to after she had gone. The house was so quiet without her.
Not long after that my leg started to get and we found out I was pregnant, so much happened within them years after her death, my bad leg, new baby, moving house, kids moving schools, However in the background of all of this I knew my hubby was searching for another rottweiler on the internet, I knew at some point we would have another one, At the time our lives were so busy and it wasn’t fair to bring a puppy into it but now things have settled down, were settled into the house, kids are settled into school, my leg is still progressing, hubby thought with Ella being a toddler now would be a good time to get a puppy as they will grow up together and will have a really great bond.
We already have 3 dogs and they are lovely dogs, we love our other dogs just as much as we will love the new puppy. They are all great with our children and they love to play together. They have taught outr children how to treat animals and the responsibilities of being a pet owner. We have a husky called sky, an Alaskan malamute called Angel and a pug called Brutes.
We introduced the puppy to the other dogs early evening yesterday, the husky and pug had a quick sniff, figuring out if he was a boy or girl, had a little play with him and then just settled down and let him explore the house. The malamute on the other hand became slightly obsessed with him, she keeps following him round and will not leave him alone. we create train our dogs and they were all really good at this however I can see lots of potty accidents with this pup because we are not crate training him as when he’s older he will be roaming the house at night, at the moment we are using baby gates to keep him in the play room at night, this is where the other dogs sleep in their crates as well.
I’m looking forward to seeing how this little bundle of joy will grow up and already after just one day he has brought so much happiness into our family.
