First 20-Minute Dash of the new year.

Happy new year everyone and thanks for stopping by to read my first 20-Minute dash of the new year.

To start with I want to quickly go over what the 20-Minute dash is all about for any new readers.

The 20-Minute  dash is kind of like a speed clean but a bit different because it’s focused more on getting your home tidy and decluttered and less on actual cleaning. This 20-Minutes is spent picking up items and either putting them where they belong or getting rid of them. Basically getting your home to a tidy state so you can complete the cleaning at a later time. So this is what you need to do…

  • Take a picture of the areas you want to tackle. (This is optional but really helps to keep you motivated)
  • Or you can write a list of the jobs you want to get done.
  • Set a timer for 20 Minutes then …
  • GO GO GO! See how much you can get finished in that 20 Minutes.
  • If you have taken a before picture, take another one after you have finished or if you have written your list, find the joy in crossing off all the jobs you finished.

This is how my 20-Minute dash went yesterday. The weather was horrible yesterday so we had to stay in and all the childrens stuff took over the house, while they were busy playing in the garden between the break in the rain I managed to get a quick dash done.

I started in the living room as this was the easiest area to do. It was mainly just toys, cushions and blankets that needed to be tidied up.

After I moved on to my desk. This seems to have become a dumping ground for all sorts of things. I have earphones and my sons mini drone along with my laptop, blogging note pad and my new calendar for this year.

The last area I wanted to tackle was the kitchen, again this is where most of the junk gets left. Dirty dishes needed to be put in the dishwasher and all the sides needed to be cleared.

I managed to get all of these areas done in time and I even managed to put another load of washing in the machine before the timer ran out and the kids came flying back in as the rain had started again.

I would really love to hear from you if you give the 20-Minute dash a go. Please tag me in any picture you take and upload to social media. You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
